Judith Durham, Australian musician, unfortunately Died 79 years old.

The singer-songwriter was the lead singer of the Australian folk band The Seekers, which formed in Melbourne in 1962.

They were one of the biggest bands of the sixties, with hits like ‘I’ll Never Find Another You’, ‘I Am Australian’ and ‘Georgy Girl’.

The group only performed for five years, from 1963 to 1968 when Judith left the group to pursue a solo career, but has sold over 50 million records worldwide.

As by GuardHe died in palliative care at the Alfred Hospital in Melbourne on Friday night (August 5).

He died of complications from a long-term chronic lung disease called bronchiectasis, and tributes to the popular singer are flooding social media.

Judith Durham’s husband died in 1994

Judith was married to British pianist Ron Edgeworth for 35 years from 1969 to 1994.

He was their music director and an actor and composer, known for Raw Deal (1977) and Naqd and Company (1975). IMDB.

They married in the Church of Scotland in Melbourne and lived in Britain and Switzerland until the mid-1980s before moving to Nambour, Queensland.

He developed motor neurone disease and sadly died on December 10, 1994 with Judith by his side. He never remarried.

A believer in karma and reincarnation, Judith was always relieved to know that Ron was continuing his spiritual journey.

Judith’s website reveals that “their love for each other and the music woven into every part of their lives filled them completely”.

However, Athol, who was also in the group, is the father of Alyssa and Kate, and Pam Pottger also had two children, Cassie and Matthew.

Bruce also had children and is the father of Claire and Dan.

The Prime Minister of Australia paid tribute

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese had paid respect To the singer on Twitter

“Judith Durham has given voice to a new strand of our identity and helped pave the way for a new generation of Australian artists,” he said, calling her a “national treasure” and an “Australian icon”.

“His kindness will be missed by many, the songs he gave our nation will never be forgotten,” the politician continued.

His bandmates from The Seekers paid the price respect Also, he called her “our lifelong friend and shining star”.

Keith Pottger, Bruce Woodley and Athol Guy said: “His fight was fierce and heroic, he never complained about his fate and fully accepted the end.”

“Your wonderful musical legacy, Keith, Bruce and I are so happy to share,” they continued.
