Peter Crouch has revealed Darwin Nunes may be “furious” with manager Jurgen Klopp after he was benched for Liverpool’s opening game of the Premier League season.

Nunez scored in the Reds’ 2-2 draw at Fulham this afternoon as Klopp’s side got their season off to a stunning start.

However, the Uruguay international, who signed for £85m this summer, only came on early in the second half.

The Liverpool manager started with Roberto Firmino in place of the former Benfica assassin.

And Crouch talking to BT SportsIt is believed that Nunes – who has struggled in the pre-season – could be angry with the Reds manager.

“The thing is, you’re chewing on a piece,” he said before the game. When you have a good preseason, you score goals. He had four pre-seasons, one in the Community Shield. “If I was an attacker, I would be angry, I would be angry.”

Goal by Darwin Nunes

Mohamed Salah’s quick strike equalized after Aleksandar Mitrovic had finished the second half with the hosts 1-0 up.

The equalizer could be chalked up as an own goal, but the Liverpool forward will certainly get it.

Salah then equalized for the Reds again after Mitrovic headed home Marco Silva’s penalty after Virgil van Dijk was fouled.

There is no doubt that Nunez has changed the game for Liverpool, who were unusually smooth when Firmino was in attack and the Uruguay international could start his next game well.
