As you progress through Xenoblade Chronicles 3’s campaign, you’ll find that you can listen to some NPCs. Sometimes they are discussing local problems and sometimes they are wondering how each other is doing. Either way, the information they give is the key to unlocking some of the game’s features. Once you hear this information, it is imperative that you share it with your teammates.
How to collect information
After reaching the third chapter, you will have the ability to listen to NPC conversations. During this time, you may notice that some NPCs have a circle with an exclamation mark above their head. This indicates that the NPC is in the middle of a conversation that you can listen to.
Go to the NPC to listen to the conversation thread. You should see an icon appear to show you that you can zoom in on what they are saying. Doing so will usually unlock new quests or at least give you a small bonus EXP or allow you to participate in an event. Whatever it is, you should talk to your teammates about it.
How to discuss information
Now that you’ve gotten whatever knowledge the NPCs were talking about, you need to see what everyone in your party thinks about it. Go to a break point and you will see that there is a new option that you can choose after starting the rest.
This new icon looks like two chat bubbles stacked on top of each other. Select the talk option and you’ll have a scene where all the playable characters talk about what they heard from the NPC. After the cutscene, you’ll see what information you’ve unlocked.
