Crews respond to a “large” grass fire in eastern Travis County

TRAVIS COUNTY, Texas – Austin-area fire crews are working to put out a “large” grass fire in eastern Travis County not far from Hornsby Bend.

this Austin Fire Department reported that the fire was located on FM 973 and FM 969. The fire is approximately 20 acres, officials said. No structures are currently under immediate threat.

At 6:30 p.m., AFD tweeted that the fire was “mostly contained.”

STAR Flight and the Texas A&M Forest Service are responding.

The fire is burning about a mile from the 30-acre blaze that broke out Wednesday afternoon.
