Liverpool open their season with a Charity Shield match against Manchester City on Saturday.

The Reds will be determined to draw first blood against Pep Guardiola’s side ahead of another season that promises to see them both fight for the Premier League title.

Liverpool lost the crown last time out in rather painful circumstances as City scored three goals in 15 minutes to beat Aston Villa on the final day of the season.

The fact that Jurgen Klopp’s side came relatively close to winning four titles last season certainly suggests that they will be among the teams to beat again in 2022-22.

However the commentator for ESPNIan Dark has predicted that the Sky Blues will be champions again.

In a graphic on ESPN Youtube The channel showed Dark’s predictions and it clearly showed City in first place, ahead of Liverpool in second place.

With the signings of Calvin Phillips and Erling Haaland to name a few, it’s possible that Guardiola’s side will once again be top contenders for the title next May.

However, it would be wrong to write Liverpool off automatically.

Despite missing out on Sadio Mane, a key member of the squad who has enjoyed much success under the German manager, they also signed Darwin Nunes for a club-record fee.

And Nunes, like Holland, is a number nine, so it will be interesting to see how they compete tomorrow – and throughout the season as well.
