According to a report by the SARS-CoV-2 Genomics Consortium of India, the Lok Sabha said on Friday that no new cases of coronavirus concerns have been detected in India since Omicron in the first week of December 2021.

However, different lineages of Omicron are circulating in all states and the clinical presentation is largely the same, Health Minister Bharati Parveen Pawar said in a written reply in the lower house.

In a written reply, Pawar said the Ministry of Health has requested states and Union Territories to focus on testing, tracing, treating, vaccinating and adhering to the appropriate Covid behavior strategy and asked them to be prepared for any escalation down the road.

He said that the Union Ministry of Health is providing necessary support to states and union territories to enhance preparedness and response capacities against Covid-19.

“Financial support to strengthen the health system to meet any exigencies due to resurgence of cases in the country through the National Health Mission, State Disaster Response Funds, COVID19 Emergency Preparedness and Response Packages and the Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission. has been.” The minister added.
