Houston crime: Missing little boy from Springfield found dead

Seven-year-old Troy Kholer had been missing for several hours before his body was found. Deputies later found her body in a top-loading washing machine in the garage.

A boy who was reported missing by his parents in the spring was found dead inside a washing machine at their home later Thursday morning, according to reports. Harris County Sheriff’s Department.

Troy was found in a top loader in the garage of the same house where he went missing HCSO The homicide detective at the scene said.

Investigators would not comment on whether there was water inside the machine or whether the lid was closed, but they said Troy was clothed.

“We don’t know what happened, but we’re going to find out,” said HCSO Lt. Robert Mincho.

The parents told investigators Troy first went missing around 4 a.m., Mincho said.

They reported it to the constable’s office at about 5:20 a.m. After questioning the parents, deputies searched the neighborhood, but found no sign of Troy. It was then that they searched the house more carefully.

Troy lived at home with both parents and no other siblings. Mincho said he was a foster child and was adopted by the couple in 2019.

He said the boy’s mother was wearing a work uniform, but he did not yet know if she had returned from work to find the boy or was getting ready for work.

A neighbor who has lived on the street for more than 40 years said he often saw Troy playing around the neighborhood. Rudy Chopa was surprised when he learned that the child’s body had been found.

“It’s bad, I mean, I have great-grandchildren, I don’t know how they’re going to deal with it,” Choppa said. “This shouldn’t happen to anyone. Wow.
