White House Press Secretary Stephanie Grisham on DeSantis vs. Trump, as well as the President’s Jan. 6 actions

My opinion is that she knew what was going on that day through meetings she might have visited at home or the phone calls she listened to. She was often in the room when he was on the phone with people. They’ll be on loudspeaker together. So it felt like she knew more than she let me in. She was at the end of management. She would have had to go home in Mar-a-Lago with him. She didn’t have layers of staff between her and her husband like she used to. I think maybe he was a part of it like, I don’t want to get into an argument with him about this because we’re going to be leaving the position in a couple of weeks, so I’m going to continue with that.

If she didn’t know what was going on, I feel like she would have said, “What violence? What’s going on?” So I knew something was going on. But I was not surprised by the statement.

I want to take some testimonials. We heard about the president throwing paintings at the wall when he was angry. Do all of these things seem real to you?

Yes correct. I would sit and watch sessions and occasionally be with people at CNN, and people would look to me for a reaction. And I said, this was life inside the White House, even when everyone was afraid of Cassidy [Hutchinson] Tell the story of the brawl in the limousine.

Tony [Ornato] He had a way of speaking because he’s a New Yorker. Tells stories. He is definitely exaggerating a bit. Everything she said was absolutely true to me. Knowing the characters involved, I could see Tony doing just that. I don’t think Cassidy was lying about it in any way, shape, or form. Do I think the president grabbed a neck? No, I bet he probably grabbed the seat belt from behind. I’m sure he did something physically, but it was all very real to me. I wish people would almost jump inside my head and be able to feel what I feel when these things happen, because it’s all so true.

It is reported that you spoke with the January 6 committee. Can you talk about that at all?

I’ve spoken to them twice and I would say that I was clearly not in the West Wing at the time. I was basically eliminated from the West Wing at that point by Mark Meadows. He tried to do a lot to hurt me, saying I leak big stories, etc.

Are you?

no no no. Have you spoken to the press? definitely. Was the story of the president, first lady and their son going to the bunker leaked? One hundred percent no. I will swear under oath on that.

So I gave [the January 6 committee] More than a roadmap. So many people that were marked, I kept saying to them, “Here’s who has this information. These are the people who were close at the time. This is who you need to talk to about what’s going to happen in the dining room.”

In your estimation, do you think he’s running again?

Every hour, I change my mind and take pride in really knowing the guy. If you had to now, yes or no, I think he’d run because his ego couldn’t run DeSantis.
