There are 17 characters in MultiVersus, but knowing which ones to unlock for the first time can be very helpful. Of these 17 characters, 4 are currently available for direct play, so you only have to worry about unlocking 13 characters. And to make the process easier for you, we’ve listed 5 fighters from each class that you need to unlock first in MultiVersus.
The best characters to unlock first in MultiVersus
You should start by unlocking the character you like to play the most and try them out in Training. If you have no preference for the character, go to the following characters:
- Arya Stark: the murderer
- Batman: a bruise
- Wonder Woman: Tank
- Tom & Jerry: Mage / Ranged
- Reindog: Support
Let’s check why you should unlock them from others.
The third child of Eddard and Catelyn Stark is the second best assassin in the game. While the best assassin is still Harley Quinn, if you don’t like Harley, you should unlock Aria. You can go with Finn, but Aria is better in my opinion. He has very powerful moves that you can combine with basic attacks.
The Knife Thrower is a move that you can use to make some crazy recoveries. One moment you’re out of the ring and boom, the next you’re back on stage. And even if you don’t consider using it as a recovery move. You can throw it at the enemy to quickly attack them. He also has a special tool called the Face Stealer that allows him to steal the faces of his enemies which allows him to stun them. And to add salt to the wound, he taunts opponents as the fighter who stole his face. Combine these with his other moves and you can deal a lot of damage to your opponents.
You can unlock him for 3000 gold or 700 glimium.
Batman is definitely a fighter you want to unlock. While you have other options like LeBron, Jake and Garnett. Their abilities aren’t exactly close to Batman’s. Two of the Caped Crusader’s most notable attacks include the smoke bomb and the bat bomb.
The smoke bomb can be very terrifying to an opponent as it not only slows them down, but also makes Batman invulnerable for a short period of time. It also adds limited abilities to allies such as projectile throwing and invisibility. And speaking of the Bat-bomb, you can attach it to your opponents to blast them into the air after a delay. Now pair these specials with your regular attacks and you’ve got a deadly personality. It’s interesting, because Batman doesn’t kill.
You can unlock Batman for 2000 Gold or 700 Gleamium.
While the best tank in the game might be Superman, we’ll stick with Wonder Woman for our recommendation here. The biggest reason is that you unlock him for free after completing the tutorial. But it would be pretty lame if that was all he did for her. And you can bet that’s not the only reason to unlock him first.
For starters, he’s ideal for tank class character training. Tanks are damage sponges designed to deal damage to the team. Next, he has some really cool specials. His side special is called Warrior’s charge and as the name suggests, he moves forward with his shield raised. Any projectiles that hit him while charging are destroyed. And it can also give armor to allies it passes through. Next, you have the defense of the gods. And finally, he can also use his lasso of truth to bring his enemies and teammates closer together. This can be used in interesting ways to catch a falling teammate.
After completing the tutorial, you unlock Wonder Woman.
Tom & Jerry
Tom and Jerry is the best Mage / Ranged fighter in the game. Yes, a fighter and not a fighter, even though they are two characters, you control them as one. Although it sounds confusing, it’s not as confusing as you might think. Tom and Jerry is recommended if you really want to make your game interesting. It has the most unique gameplay when you compare it to other characters. Some of its prominent features include Snap Trap, Look Out Below and Rocket Mouse.
Let’s start with Rocket Mouse, in which Tom attaches a rocket to Jerry and uses him as a projectile. Speaking of projectiles, the special look below is where Tom drops a stick of dynamite. Explodes when hitting an enemy or on a second jump. And Snap Trap is where Tom creates a mousetrap that deals damage when opponents trigger it, only increasing its power if a teammate steps on it with Cheese Buff.
You can unlock Tom & Jerry with 3000 Gold or 700 Gleamium.
When you talk about support characters, there aren’t many players who prefer them. But you’d be surprised how useful they can be when used correctly and with a teammate. And one of these characters is Reindog, in fact, he is a fighter made specifically for this game, unlike the rest of the list that are from some other worlds.
As a beginner, you should find these special moves very helpful. Flounce Pounce, this is a forward dressing attack. Its aerial version is Fireworks Master, which is a spinning forward attack. Flying Floop that turns Reindog into a ball that your teammates can choose to fire at you at the enemy. And finally, there’s the Power Crystal. This move summons a power crystal that strikes the opponent with lightning, giving them an electrical debuff, and allies hit by it receive an electrical buff.
You can unlock Reindog with 2000 Gold or 700 Gleamium.
Again these characters are just some recommendations, the best real characters to unlock in MultiVersus are the ones you enjoy playing with. So go into training mode in the lab and try out different characters to decide if the character you’re trying to unlock is really worth it.
