Northern Colorado added a midfielder on loan

A new face will be on the pitch for the Northern Colorado club after the loan deal was announced on Thursday.

Midfielder Wolfgang Prentice will join the Hailstorm from Oakland Roots SC, who are in the USL Championship League. This contract is still waiting for the approval of the league and the federation.

Prentice is expected to be on loan at the Hail team until the end of the season.

“This is a new place for me, I’ve never been to Colorado before,” Prentice said in a release. “I’m always excited for new opportunities, so I’m excited to be here.”

Prentiss made his debut for Oakland against USL One side Greenville in the US Open Cup.

Prentice played college soccer at Cal State-Northridge, appearing in 35 games, scoring four goals and adding five assists. He spent time with the Los Angeles Galaxy Youth Academy and the 2015 US Under-15 National Team camp.

Prentiss played in the independent National Football League for the San Diego 1904s before joining the Roots. He played 16 games and scored one goal.

“Wolfgang has entered the field with high motivation, great attitude, young, enthusiastic, humble,” said head coach Eamon Zayed. He wants to put his head down and get some playing time. “He’s highly rated by the Auckland coaching staff, so I’m obviously delighted to sign him and hopefully he’ll be part of our team in the second half of the season.”

Prentiss is the second player to come to Northern Colorado on loan. Defender Owen Damm joined the franchise this year and is expected to play until the end of the season.
