Softball students have an opportunity to expand their athletic abilities in a new academy.
The Colorado Softball Academy will host its grand opening and grand opening on August 6th from 1-5pm in Loveland.
It is a new 44,500 square foot facility designed to train young softball players. The event is open to the public and will include raffles, softball contests — like seeing if guests can hit a major league pitcher — food and seminars on mental performance and recruiting.
Ashley Gobel Rowley, a former Florida catcher and Colorado native, founded the academy as a place to give girls the opportunity to learn a variety of life skills, including self-confidence and leadership, while honing their athletic abilities.
The academy will include playing, training and coaching opportunities for athletes 4 years old through college. Its mission is the emotional, physical and emotional development of players.
Rowley played with the Gators from 2002 to 2005 and held the record for most field goal percentage in a season. He also has the second-highest field goal percentage in school history. He had a perfect fielding percentage in 2003, finishing his career at .994 with just two errors.
Following his athletic career, Rowley was a graduate assistant at Tennessee and has spent more than a decade in private coaching.
