During an 11-on-11 operation, QB Russell Wilson spotted WR Courtland Sutton on a deep overroute.

odds and ends

*Tom Compton didn’t attend any offseason rehearsals that were revealed to the media and now we can see why. Coach Nathaniel Hackett said Compton had recently had back surgery and would be on a PUP (not physically capable) list. “He’s going to go out a little,” Hackett said. Compton signed offseason and the Broncos said he will fight to start the right tackle against Billy Turner and Calvin Anderson. Compton can also guard.

* For added depth without Compton and Turner (knee), Broncos signed OT Cam Fleming prior to practice. He started four games for the Broncos last year. “We always want to have 15 healthy bodies (line of attack) and 3 groups,” Hackett said.

*Turner hasn’t practiced since signing with Bronco. “I think we’re hearing all of that by ear and we’re dealing with him the right way,” Hackett said. “Billy has a great body and she understands and communicates with it. He will take him at the right time.”

*Rookie TE Greg Dulcich played on the field last month with a hamstring injury. “We’re trying to play slow,” Hackett said.

*First Offensive Group: LT Garett Bolles, LG Dalton Risner, C Lloyd Cushenberry, RG Quinn Meinerz and Anderson at RT. Second group: LT Ben Braden, LG Graham Glasgow, C Luke Wattenberg, RG Netane Muti and RT Zack Johnson.

*During the first period of 11-11, RB Javonte Williams caught the first carry (and first reception), ILB Jonas Griffith continued working with Josey Jewell, and the defensive line was DJ Jones, Dre’Mont Jones and DeShawn Williams. The second troop defense line was Mike Purcell, Jonathan Harris and McTelvin Agim. Also in second place were Alex Singleton and Justin Strnad from ILB, Baron Browning and Nik Bonitto from OLB and Michael Ojemudia and Damarri Mathis from CB.

*Broncos is practice No. I ran several red zone periods on 1. “I love competitiveness… that’s what you want and that’s what you love,” Hackett said. On Wilson’s fade pass, CB Ronald Darby gave WR Courtland Sutton a tight cover.

*K Brandon McManus kick-offs were WR Montrell Washington, Kaden Davis and Trey Quinn.

*Backup quarterback Josh Johnson’s first pass misses WR Jerry Jeudy’s goal with at least 4 defenders in his area.

*S Justin Simmons nearly blocked Wilson on a biased pass but was unable to maintain possession while diving into the grass.

* Prior to the full squad stretch, McManus and P Sam Martin each played soccer and played catch games with fans on the lawn banks.

* To make room for Fleming on their roster, the Broncos gave up LB Kadofi Wright.

*Broncos launched “London Raffle” and the prize is a 5 day trip to England for their 30 October match against Jacksonville. All proceeds will go towards the Denver Broncos Charities, and tickets can be purchased on the Broncos website through August 31, and can also be visited in person during preseason home games against Dallas (August 13) and Minnesota (August 27).
