Chris Rock talks about Will Smith’s Oscar slapping controversy

Chris Rock has finally broken his silence on the infamous slap on the hand of Will Smith at this year’s Academy Awards.

Here’s everything you need to know.

Chris Rock slapped Oscar Will Smith

Chris Rock took the stage at Madison Square Garden in New York City on Saturday evening. He joined Kevin Hart on the Only Headliners Allowed comedy tour.

Controversial stand-up comedian Dave Chappelle was a surprise guest at Saturday’s concert.

During his set, Rock was no doubt poking fun at Will Smith, as he reportedly “joked about Will during some time about ‘cancellation culture.’

“Anyone who hurts words has never been punched in the face,” the 57-year-old actor joked, according to Entertainment Tonight.

Additionally, Hart joined in on the fun when he brought a live goat on stage and named it “Will Smith” during the ceremony.

Rock poked fun at the expense of Smith’s wife Jada Pinkett Smith’s shaved head at the star-studded event.

He said, “Jada, I love you. GI Jane 2, I can’t wait to see it.

This led to Smith storming the stage and punching The Rock in the face. He also yelled, “Don’t let my wife’s name out of your mouth.”

Rock continued to speak out about the infamous slap in his set the next day at Bank of New Jersey’s PNC Center for the Arts in Holmdel.

According to Us magazine, Rock said, “I’m not a victim, mom. Yeah, it’s not painful, mom. But I shook it off and went to work the next day… I’m not going to the hospital for a paper break.

Chris Rock won’t talk about slapping unless he gets paid

Chris Rock has previously stated in several interviews that he will not publicly address the conflict between him and Will Smith.

“People expect me to talk about bulls,” the comedian once said. I’m not talking about it right now. I’ll get to it eventually – on Netflix.

He recently shared that he wouldn’t talk about the infamous slap until he got paid for it last month while performing at California’s Fantasy Springs Resort Casino in Indio.

He said: “I’m fine. I’ve got a whole schedule and I’m not talking about it until I get paid.

Meanwhile, Kevin Hart gave an update on Smith’s mental health in an interview. “Will is apologizing, you know, he’s in a better place than what he was looking for,” he said.
