35th Avenue, O Street intersection close to passing vehicles for roundabout construction – Greeley Tribune

Roundabout construction at the intersection of 35th Avenue and O Street requires closure of the intersection by mid-September.

Starting Monday, the intersection will be closed to all traffic for 45 days, and the following detours are listed, according to a Weld County Government press release.

  • From North 25th Avenue to F Street to 35th Avenue or Northwest C Street
  • From North 37th Avenue to AA Street to 59th Avenue, then 59th Street to F Street to 35th Street.
  • 59th Avenue – F Street – North 25th Avenue – O Street
  • From North 47th Avenue to AA Street to North 37th Avenue; From North 37th Avenue to O Street

The crew will complete the planned roundabout construction for the intersection, including all concrete and asphalt pavement, all driveways and site access, and installation of all drains. New road markings, signs and street lights will also be installed. Other aspects include finalizing utility relocation and retrieving disturbed areas.

The crew of project contractor IHC Scott began construction in April. This includes sub-excavation work on the east, west and north bridges of the roundabout and soil stabilization work on which the road construction project is based. Stability and compression are very important to ensure that the driving surface remains scratch-free and achieve a 30-year lifespan.

Jay McDonald, director of Weld County Public Works, said the project is “on track” and will be completed on schedule.

“This roundabout is one of our capital improvement projects and has taken an important step toward completion, while at the same time committed to reducing construction discomfort for the moving public,” he said.

When completed, the roundabout will have the same function as the first roundabout built by the county on Weld County Roads 54 and 17. The American Concrete Paving Association noted special considerations for accommodating heavy farm and ranch equipment.
