League developer floats potential Malphite update, but ‘simple’ identity will remain

. Last update: July 27, 2022

Malphite is one of the oldest champions of League of Legends, but the rock at the top hasn’t changed much. Things will stay the same for now, but Riot is eyeing a potential Malphite update — although its “simple” gameplay will remain for good reason.

Since the release of League of Legends in 2009, Malphite has been one of the few relatively untouched champions. One out of 40, The Rock at the top really only received one major overhaul in Season 9 to improve wave scanning and give it a bit more skill.

His place in the game as a simple to learn yet effective hero is important because Riot adds more complex characters like Recently launched Nilha. This is something the developers will not give up.

After some players called for a rework of Malphite, or even just a smaller update Closer to Sever Or Orillion Sol The latest developments, Developer Ryan ‘Reav3’ Mireles has dropped calls To change the Shard of the Monolith group very radically.

However, the developers understand that it is not as attractive as it used to be with all these complex new heroes. They at least want to make it interesting with a new touch of paint: “I think Malphite probably needs a VU.” [visual update] or ASU [art and sustainability update] At some point instead of VGU [visual and gameplay update]. “

Riot Games

Riot is considering Malphite’s visual update in League of Legends, but nothing in terms of sheer ability as its “simple” identity is key to the game’s balance.

As for changes in capacity? Don’t expect too much because Riot wants to keep the game simple for those just getting started.

“His kit is simple but still fun and works well, and it’s okay to have some of the simpler heroes in the game,” Reav3 continued.

Visual updates have been relatively successful in increasing player engagement with some heroes like Kaitlyn and Sindrawho were guinea pigs for VUs and ASUs.

Exactly when Malphite will receive the same treatment remains to be seen, but it’s at least on their radar.
