Ricky Martin wanted to “focus on love” after returning to the stage for the first time since his nephew dropped abuse allegations against him.
The singer’s cousin, Denis Yadiel Sanchez, 50, filed a temporary restraining order against his uncle at the beginning of this month, alleging they had a sexual relationship and claiming the star became abusive and stalked him after allegations. The relationship ended, but he filed to dismiss the case on Thursday (21.07.22).
Ricky returned to stage at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles on Friday, where, with the support of the L.A. Philharmonic, he performed a “beautiful evening” of his hits including “Livin’ La Vida Loca,” “She Bangs” and “La Bomba.”
He told the audience: “This is going to be a beautiful evening.
“Are you ready to have a good time? All I want is for you to forget all your problems. I want you to focus on love and light.”
After Sanchez withdrew his claims, Ricky admitted that the past few weeks had been “very painful”.
He previously said, “I’m in front of the cameras today because I really need to talk to start the recovery process.
“For two weeks I was not allowed to defend myself because I was following the procedure whereby the law requires me not to speak until I am before a judge.
Thank God these allegations have been proven false. I will tell you the truth. It was so painful, it was devastating to me, my family and my friends. I would not wish this on anyone.
The singer called his young relative for help as he planned to focus on his music for his “healing.”
He added, “To the person who was claiming this nonsense, I wish you all the best.
“I hope he finds help so he can start a new life full of love, truth and joy and not hurt anyone else. Now, my priority is healing and how do I recover? With music.
“I can’t wait to get back on stage. I can’t wait to get back in front of the cameras and have fun, which is what I do best.
Thank you to all my friends. Thank you to all my fans who have always believed in me.
“You have no idea how much power you gave me with every comment I wrote on social media.
“I wish you love and light and here we come with the same strength and passion. God bless you all.”
