Bears to add orange helmet to two games in 2022

For the first time in their history, bears will wear an orange helmet this year.

The team will pair their replacement orange jersey with a new replacement orange helmet for two games in 2022 – at home for “Friday Night Football” October 13 against the Commanders, and just in time for Halloween, at the Cowboys on October 30.

The orange helmet will have a Navy C wishbone, the standard Bears crest, and a navy face mask and white nose bumper with the team name in orange. The Bears, which announced the new helmet on Sunday, will pair it with an orange jersey, standard white shorts, and navy blue striped socks.

“We believe we have the best uniforms in the sport, and certainly among the most iconic,” George McAskie, chairman and a prominent uniformed enthusiast, said in a statement. “So, we’re not looking to fix it. We just want to make improvements to the current look from time to time and think that’s a great improvement. I’m really excited about this mod. I like that it stays inside the traditional Bears look. We’re excited about them and hopefully the fans are too.”

This is the first time the bears have moved away from their marine helmets. The move became possible when the NFL lifted its two-shell ban — which, for safety reasons, prohibited teams from wearing two different helmets — for this season. Many NFL teams quickly added a new helmet; For example, the Jets will wear an alternate black helmet when they play with the bears.

The Bears wore orange jerseys early in their history and brought them back into regular rotation between 2005 and 2011, then started again in 2018. The team, which has four jersey picks, will launch the rest of its official schedule next month.
