Two women shot in the old town, near where a 14-year-old boy was injured last month in a double shooting

Two women were shot in Old Town Near North Side early Saturday, just a mile from where a 14-year-old boy was shot last month.

Chicago police officers who were on foot patrol heard gunshots and found the two women in the First Building on West Division Street around 3:15 a.m., police said.

One, 29, had a graze in the head and was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in good condition. The other, a 26-year-old, was shot in the left leg and buttock, and was also taken in the northwest in good condition.

Police said a suspect was arrested after a short chase and a weapon was found. No fees have been announced.

On June 4, about a mile away, police said the shooting of a 14-year-old boy and a 23-year-old man in the 1300 block on North Hudson Avenue. Police said the boy was hit in the stomach and leg and the man in the upper chest.

The two attacks took place in the 18th police district where shootings are up 82% from last year and crime overall is up 66%, according to police data.
