It is reported that Renee Zellweger will return as Bridget Jones – with her son.
The 53-year-old actress is said to be returning to her acclaimed bachelor role as “booze” and “huge pants” for the fourth movie in the popular franchise.
The Sun reported that the producers were working “in secret” on the project.
Jones last appeared on the big screen six years ago when Bridget Jones’ Baby saw her pregnant and trying to figure out who her father was.
The rumored upcoming movie is understood to have been co-written by creator Helen Fielding, 64, and will see Zellweger tell the story of motherhood with her son.
One source said, “There have been few rom-coms more successful or more popular than Bridget Jones over the past two decades, but everyone thought this was done for good.”
However, the producers have always known that there is a huge market for another sequel when the right story is available, and this seems like a good time to tell it.
“It will be seven or eight years since the last movie by the time this movie hits the big screen, and fans will be desperate to know what happened. It’s a British classic.”
It turns out that in Bridget’s third film, attorney Mark Darcy, played by Colin Firth, 61, is the father and not the charming new love interest Jack Quandt, portrayed by 56-year-old Patrick Dempsey.
Also featured in the film are Jim Broadbent, 73, Emma Thompson, 63, Celia Emery, 70, and a cameo from 31-year-old Ed Sheeran.
Daniel Cleaver hasn’t featured the masquerade Hugh Grant, but the door is open for him to come back in the new movie as the tabloid headline that appeared in the final installment of the final installment revealed that he was found alive a year after his presumed death.
Released in 2001 based on the bestselling book Bridget Jones ‘Diary’, these films are beloved for their graphic depictions of the struggles of binge drinking, frequent smoking Bridget while struggling to find love in her thirties, and grossed nearly £1 billion at the box office.
